CBD oil: Controversial or Curative?

CBD oil has been sold in the UK since the beginning of the year and is becoming increasingly popular as people hear about the health benefits of using it.

But don’t worry, there’s no ‘high’ to be had from CBD oil as it contains no or very minute amounts of THC, which is the compound that reacts with heat when you smoke or cook cannabis.

Instead CBD products are being used to help treat a plethora of health issues, including helping to reduce chronic pain, lower feelings of anxiety and depression, reduce inflammation, epilepsy seizures and the shakes related to Parkinson’s and lower the risk of diabetes and heart disease. It has even been reported to alleviate cancer symptoms and have anti-tumour effects.

You can add the oil to food or smoothies, put a few drops under your tongue or even vape it plus new products are coming out all the time including pastes, balms, drinks and tablets.

You can buy CBD oil in Holland and Barrett and from many online retailers such as Raised Spirit, Love Hemp and CBD brothers. Make sure you your research into whomever you are buying it from, a recent study found that some oils contained no or little CBD compared to what their labels said, so you’d obviously get no or little effect. Make sure you buy from a reputable retailer.

In terms of the downsides, very few except a some minor side effects have been reported, but these products are new and no-one yet knows what long terms use looks like.

If you're already using CBD oil let me know how you're getting on and if feel like giving it a try after reading this please check with your doctor, especially if you are already taking other medications and finally - do your research!
